HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilation)

What is a MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) system?

A MVHR system is a piece of equipment that is integrated into your home that delivers fresh filtered air without creating uncomfortable drafts, and without creating excessive demand on your heating and cooling systems.

The way it works is by recovering the thermal energy from the air within the building and using this to precondition the outside fresh air as it is drawn into the building.

It will work well in both summer and winter with smart controls on most modern units able to control a bypass flap that allows the unit to bring in fresh air directly without passing it through the heat exchanger.

A MVHR system allows better thermal and humidity control, and delivers even more comfortable and healthy indoor air quality. It’s also important to consider building air tightness when planning the use of high quality MVHR, as the uncontrolled infiltration of air into the building that occurs in leaky buildings, will reduce the heat recovery efficiency achievable

What are the health benefits of a MVHR system?

A MVHR system is designed to provide good air quality in your home. This will help to prevent issues such as mould or condensation occurring.

Indoor air quality is essential for health and wellbeing, In the MVHR unit the air brought in from outside is passed through replaceable filters in the unit.

MVHR is also an advantage where homes are situated close to industrial/ commercial areas or near to a busy road which may have poor external air quality levels.

Mechanical Heat Recovery Ventilation Systems installed in Adelaide

Heat Recovery Ventilation System installed in Port Elliot

Installation and commissioning of a MVHR system on a newly constructed home in Port Elliot.

After system installation we have balanced the system using our Anemometer that measures airflow at the duct outlets.

Heat Recovery Ventilation System installed in the Adelaide Hills

Installation and commissioning of a MVHR system on a newly constructed home in the Adelaide Hills.

The HRV unit is installed in a laundry cupboard with ducting feed through a drop down ceiling to the supply and return vents throughout the home. The ducting is run this way to keep it within the homes air tight barrier.

After system installation we have balanced the system using our Anemometer that measures airflow at the duct outlets.
